Overview
Interval is a meeting companion for Mac and iPhone. It uses information you choose to provide so it can show your day, help you prepare for meetings, run a timer, and keep notes. Interval does not have an Interval-owned account system or advertising network, and the app does not use your information for cross-app tracking.
This policy describes the current app and website. Apple, RevenueCat, and PostHog provide parts of the app’s calendar, iCloud, notification, and purchase infrastructure, as described below. Cloudflare hosts this website and may process IP addresses and request details to deliver and protect it. The website has no sign-up form. Optional website analytics are described below.
Calendar information
If you grant calendar access, Interval reads events from the calendars you select. It uses event titles, dates and times, availability, calendar identity, and relevant event details such as a meeting link to show your agenda, briefing, preparation countdown, and meeting controls. Interval does not edit calendar events or invitations.
The app processes calendar information on your device for these features. Selected calendar identifiers and preferences are saved on your device so the app remembers your choices. You can deselect calendars or revoke access in system settings.
Meeting notes and iCloud
Notes are saved on your device first. A note can include text you write, a meeting title, an event identifier, an occurrence date, and timestamps needed to find and reconcile it. Interval may keep a local recovery draft while saving a note.
If iCloud note sync is enabled, Interval stores notes and change information in your private iCloud database so they can appear on your Apple devices. iCloud sync is on by default for a new installation, and you can switch it off in Interval’s settings; the saved setting takes effect when the app next launches. If iCloud is unavailable, notes remain local. Apple handles the iCloud service under its own terms and privacy policy.
When you delete a note, Interval clears its text, title, and event identifier from its change history. It retains the occurrence date and opaque identifiers needed to reconcile changes across devices. Copies may remain for a time in Apple device backups or iCloud systems according to Apple’s retention practices. You can manage iCloud data and backups through Apple’s settings.
Recording, transcription and generated notes
Recording is optional and never starts automatically. On iPhone, you can record a nearby conversation using the microphone after granting permission and informing everyone involved. The iPhone recorder does not capture audio from another app’s call. Microphone audio is processed on your iPhone with Apple’s on-device speech recognition. When supported and available, Apple Intelligence can turn the transcript into draft notes on the device. Interval does not send audio or transcripts to an external AI service, RevenueCat or PostHog for this processing. Speech assets may need to download, and availability depends on your device, language and Apple Intelligence settings.
The Mac 1.1 update is pending Apple review and release; it is not yet available from the App Store or website. Public Mac 1.0 supports manual notes. In Mac 1.1, you can start recording a current meeting with full access after granting Microphone and Screen & System Audio Recording permission and informing everyone involved. Interval captures microphone and Mac audio, including calls played through headphones, other apps and notifications. No screen images are saved. Transcription and, when supported, Apple Intelligence draft-note generation run on your Mac. Apple’s speech model may need to download; generated notes depend on compatible hardware, language and Apple Intelligence settings. You can review, edit and save the transcript without Apple Intelligence. Recording stops when the meeting ends or changes, your Mac sleeps, access ends, or one hour elapses.
Audio files and recovery drafts are stored locally in the app. After the transcript has been safely saved as a local draft, Interval removes the audio. If transcription or saving fails, it keeps the recoverable draft and any audio still needed so you can retry or discard them. Generated notes and transcripts remain drafts until saved or discarded; there is no automatic time-based expiry. Successful saving removes the recording draft. Discarding removes its local draft and audio; if cleanup fails, the app reports the error so you can retry. Device backups may retain copies under Apple’s backup settings and retention practices.
Notes you save from a recording, including transcript text if you choose to include it or use the transcript fallback, become ordinary meeting notes. They can sync to your private iCloud database when notes sync is enabled, and follow the note deletion behavior above. Deleting a recording draft does not delete notes already saved to the notebook. You can delete those separately. Interval’s recording files are not uploaded by its note-sync feature.
Notifications and Focus
If enabled, Interval schedules meeting reminders on your device. These may display a meeting title and calendar name on visible system surfaces. You can turn these features off or hide meeting titles in Interval’s settings. If you choose to use Focus integration, Interval opens the Shortcut you name with a requested end time; you control the Shortcut and its permissions.
Purchases and subscriptions
Apple processes App Store purchases. Stripe processes website lifetime payments, billing details and purchase email. A private activation key associates the verified purchase with Interval, and RevenueCat verifies Pro access. Sparkle checks the website build’s update feed and downloads signed updates. Interval uses RevenueCat to load available subscription plans and check purchase or restore status. The App Store build uses a RevenueCat app user identifier. The website build uses an identified installation account and associates activated access with the verified purchase customer. These identifiers, purchase and subscription identifiers, and related transaction information may be processed by Apple and RevenueCat to provide and verify Pro access. Interval does not receive your payment card number. See Apple’s privacy policy and RevenueCat’s privacy policy for how they handle information in their services.
For website purchases, Cloudflare stores hashed purchase and email identifiers, payment/refund records, registered device public keys, expiring verification and session records, and encrypted pending email and receipt-delivery data to protect downloads and enforce two active Macs per license. Resend receives the purchase email address and message content to deliver activation-key, verification and recovery emails. A necessary secure browser cookie remembers verified download access for up to 24 hours; the checkout cookie only tracks payment progress. Your activation key grants download access; email verification is required for key recovery and Mac management. Each registered Mac stores its hardware-bound device key reference, signed authorization and updater access in Keychain. Verification codes expire after one hour and are single use. Completed email and receipt deliveries erase their encrypted recipient and message data; expired verification jobs are removed. Offline authorizations expire within 24 hours; restarting the Mac requires online verification. Keep purchase and verification codes private. They are not website analytics or advertising identifiers. Purchase records are retained to provide lifetime access and prevent refunded purchases being reused. Contact us about access or deletion requests; payment providers may need to retain their own records.
The website seller is Cory Parry trading as Interval; see our purchase terms for business contact details. Resend’s handling of email delivery is described in Resend’s privacy policy. Stripe’s handling of payment details is described in Stripe’s privacy policy.
App usage and diagnostics
Interval uses PostHog to understand app opens, feature use, permission choices, purchase outcomes, performance, and reliability. Reports use a random installation identifier, app and operating-system version, platform, event time, and fixed action or error categories. Performance reports include operation timings and system measurements such as CPU use, memory, app runtime, disk writes, launch time and hangs. Crash reports include technical stack information. We do not send meeting titles, calendar details, note text, audio, transcripts, meeting links, account identifiers, or raw provider error messages to PostHog. Session recording, automatic screen capture, and location enrichment are disabled.
In the new iPhone release, usage and diagnostics stay off until you choose to enable them. Earlier app versions may have enabled them by default. You can change “Share usage & diagnostics” in Settings or on the subscription screen, including before subscribing. Turning it off stops new reports and discards queued reports on that device; it does not remove reports already received. PostHog processes the reports to help us improve Interval, under PostHog’s privacy policy. Reports are associated with an installation, not an Interval account, and are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Website analytics
If you choose “Allow analytics”, this website uses PostHog to understand page visits, navigation and purchase-link clicks, scroll depth, video viewing, demo controls, download verification outcomes, and website performance. Reports include a random browser identifier, browser and device information, page paths, referring website domains and event times. We classify identifiable search, social, email, referral and AI-assistant sources, including ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity. We keep the first source seen by the browser and the source of its current visit so we can understand navigation and purchase-link clicks. If an app or browser hides the referrer, an untagged visit is reported as direct or unknown. We do not identify website visitors with their purchase email or app installation. Full URL query strings and fragments are removed from event properties. We retain only validated, short source, medium, campaign and content labels from utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign and utm_content. Email addresses, activation-key patterns, verification codes, search terms and advertising click identifiers are excluded from these labels. Website analytics use PostHog’s EU service; IP-address enrichment is disabled in our project.
With your permission, we also use session recordings and click heatmaps on public pages to understand how the website is used. Typed text and editable notes are masked or excluded. Purchase activation pages have no session recording or automatic interaction capture; they report only fixed actions and outcomes, without activation keys, verification codes, email addresses, device identifiers, purchase credentials, or raw error messages. Pages opened with URL parameters or fragments have recordings disabled. Recordings are currently retained for 30 days. Analytics events follow our PostHog project’s retention settings.
PostHog is loaded only after you allow analytics. Declining keeps browsing, purchasing and downloads available without website analytics. We remember your choice in browser storage for up to 180 days. Analytics uses browser storage for its random identifier and session information. Change your choice using “Analytics preferences” in the footer; withdrawing permission stops new reports, clears the local analytics identity and reloads the page. It does not delete reports already received. Browser Do Not Track preferences are respected. Website analytics consent is separate from the app’s “Share usage & diagnostics” setting. PostHog’s handling of information is described in PostHog’s privacy policy.
Your choices and retention
You can change selected calendars, reminders, title visibility, and iCloud note sync in Interval’s settings. You can delete individual notes in the app, revoke calendar, notification, microphone or Mac audio recording permission in system settings, and contact us for help removing any remaining local app data. Information in iCloud and backups is managed through your Apple account. Purchase records remain subject to Apple’s, Stripe’s and RevenueCat’s retention practices.
We may update this policy when the app or its services change. The effective date at the top will change when we publish a material update.
